The Bridge of Hope has impacted Makama, Makambo, and their surrounding villages more than our ancestors could imagine. They have improved the lives of the people involve through free education across the Bridge schools for every child especially the less privileged and for the reintegration of teenage mothers and left out pupils.
Beyond education, The Bridge provides health care services to pupils, destitute people and The Bridge staff. They focus on hunger reduction through quarterly (every three month) distribution of 25 kg rice to vulnerable people and gifts to some sponsored pupils and families.
The Bridge has created jobs opportunities through staff recruitment in the offices, schools, bricks, first aid clinics, and churches. They have also provided spiritual transformation to the community to share the Gospel of Jesus through church planting, outreach to vulnerable populations, and evangelism. All the ministries work to encourage people to embrace and believe in Jesus Christ.

My employment in the Bridge of Hope since June 2016 has greatly contributed to speedy development for the vision of the organization. When I was a Child Advocate and Communication Lead, I improve the roster tracking of all the Bridge of Hope schools pupils and worked hard to integrate the left out pupils living within the surrounding area. I strengthened the Child Rights Acts in our schools to support the abolishment of the corporal punishment. Through God, I triumphantly facilitated the adoption process of the Woolace family for David and Dauda.
I introduced the Bridge of Hope to the District Child Protection meeting that is held at the Ministry of Social Welfare as well as the District Education meetings held by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education - MBSSE. Finally, I introduced the annual teachers’ coordination meeting to share successes, weakness, give training and recommendations.
During COVID-19, when schools were closed, I initiated and bought radios for our pupils and families to have access to the government radio teaching programs. I worked to supply face masks, hygiene kids to our schools and pupils through the Bridge of Hope.
I contributed to the establishment of the Bridge of Hope secondary school ranging from naming giving, motto, uniform type among others tasks. Moreover, I initiated and pioneered the Bridge of Hope primary and nursery schools to have the same uniforms as they have now.
Due to the suffering of the masses, I advocated for the supply of 25 kg rice to vulnerable pupils during COVID-19 and now the program continues to provide nourishment to vulnerable people in the communities quarterly.
I lead the recruitment of Secondary school staff, JSS approval and coaching of our heads of schools. I brought the issuance of termly report cards to parents/caregiver. I brought effective monitoring and supervising to our schools that enable us to have positive outcome in public exams.
I helped to facilitate the establishment of the Girls Empowerment Movement school club which now has a brother club for the boys called Trailblazers.
I am among those who advocated for the NCC nursery to have a independent school building so they could stop using the church as their classrooms.
I advocated for our schools to have a brass band, functional laboratories (computer and science), and fans for our secondary school.
Conduction of regular annual election for students’ leaders is an added role I made for the students to participate in. I advocated for a functional first aid clinic in the Bridge of Hope Cornerstone secondary school to supplement the first aid clinics at our two primary schools.
A current effort of mine is the introduction of school ID cards especially for secondary school students.

Since my recruitment I have seen great transformation in The Bridge activities such as Leadership training and empowerment through education (formal and informal), growing attendance of pupils in all our schools, school feeding improvement, and celebrating the results of our pupils in public exams.
Outside of education, I have seen a steady improvement in human capital, gender parity in the work place, spiritual growth in our churches, health care extension like first aid clinic to secondary school and mobile clinic, and leadership structure.

My primary role is leading and supervising The Bridge schools education, operation, and implementation to ensure quality teaching and learning are provided from the teachers to the pupils according to government education policies. I work to make sure the necessary welfare of our staff (teachers, cooks and cleaner) and pupils are met.
I am the supervisor for the work of the lead Child Advocate and her team in our schools to ensure their relationship with teachers and pupils are cordial for our pupils’ rights, responsibilities, safety. I ensure that they take care to follow Jesus’ teachings and child protection policies.
Another role of mine is to facilitate and support our heads of schools on documentation related to our schools and staff such as approval of schools and teachers accessing government pin codes among others. As an INGO working on education to compliment government effort, attending education partners meetings, trainings, and workshops is crucial to my success in this role.
All of my various roles work together for my main purpose: to advocate, evaluate, motivate and empower my school staff and pupils for our schools to meet the needs of a grade A performing schools in the country to produce outstanding leaders in society.
