Soma Community - Makumbo

Makumbo is a small village in Sierra Leone near Makeni. New life Fellowship in Graham, Washington and Soma Communities in Tacoma, Washington have joined together to build a church and a school in Makumbo named Soma Communities.

When we first met them, the village had a building for the church to gather  but needed classrooms for children to hold school and Sunday School.  The pastor and principal's name is Maligie Kamara. He has two helpers in ministry; Micah and George, and there are 9 teachers for 240 students in the school. The village has about 1000 people in it. It has two water wells (that run dry) and no electricity.  

We have two focuses to help the people in Makumbo: 

1. strengthen the church and church leaders in the gospel of Jesus and

1. provide basic assistance through a feeding program and teacher support.
